Palestra dia 15/5 14h: Gaussian Adaptive PID Controller

(Mai/2018) dia 15 de maio (terça), às 14h00, no auditório do DAELE, será apresentada a palestra "Gaussian Adaptive PID Controller" apresentada pelo prof. Mauricio dos Santos Kaster, professor da UTFPR-PG.

SHORT BIOGRAPHY:

MAURICIO DOS SANTOS KASTER received the bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from Universidade Federal do Paraná (1992), Msc. Degree in Industrial Informatics from Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica do Paraná (1995) and PhD degree in Automation and Systems from Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (2006). He is full-professor at Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná since 1995. His interests include Microcontrollers, Electronic Digital Systems, Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA), Power Electronic Converters, Embedded Systems, Control Systems Theory, Digital Control Systems, Adaptive Control, Sliding-mode Control and Bio-inspired Optimization.

ABSTRACT:

Gaussian Adaptive Proportional Integral Derivative (GAPID) control is a kind of nonlinear adaptive control technique where the adaptive rule is given by a gaussian function, which presents some important characteristics, like being a smooth function with smooth derivatives, upper and lower bounded, and with adjustable concavity. This function has three parameters and describe each adaptive gains of a PID. By assuming the derivative gain becomes zero when working on the setpoint, the controller design has eight parameters to be defined. As there is no algebraic design methodology developed yet, bio-inspired metaheursitics are employed to find the best parameters for the controller. The design process can share the same design requirements of the traditional PID facilitating its use on industrial plants where PID is present.
